    Hey guys,

Kudos for your apps. S.S. Space is great, and I can’t wait for Curtis Heavy…

Spoke is not running as smooth as your demos on my Touch 2g though. I tried rebooting and all. Still lagging when I drag beats and when I swap compositions…

What are the ideas for the future? Will we be able to select new sounds? Or maybe have the reference lines back from that first (and cool) demo layout?

Keep up the good work and strange ideas!

Spoke has been optimized and optimized, and it may well get optimized some more. It does run a tad slower on the device than on the simulator, although audio is not affected. You shouldn’t be seeing major lag though. We’ll see what else can be done.

The lag when you swap compositions is due to Spoke waiting for any currently sounding notes to finish before it drops in a new composition. This may be changing soon.

We are trying to stay away from grids and quantization, but if demand is sufficient we will provide ;)

Lots of cool upgrades are on the wishlist, but we’d rather keep quiet until they begin to materialize.

I too noted the gap between compositions. From the video it seems like there is a real gap in loading… around 1:22. The sequencer goes blank and then the next pattern loads up. Is that the case?

That’s right, as mentioned elsewhere, somewhere, Spoke waits until the current sounds are done playing before loading a new pattern. Typically this doesn’t impede the work/play process, but we are looking into ways around it. Are people using Spoke for performing with? Is the lag a drag?

Today’s OS3 fix also speeds things up on this end. The UI is soon to be generally peppier :)

love the way this is shaping up, such a great way of making beats with a bit of swing. but without the ability to load your own sounds in, it’s only ever going to be a sketchpad – if i could load up my own sounds into the 7 slots and save the kit along with the composition, it would be a proper beatmaking tool…

would also quite like to see (optional) guide lines as well, perhaps just a faint line at each beat (ie at 3 6 9 & 12 o’clock) as a guide. don’t really want it to snap to the line or anything (although it could be an option perhaps) but it might be good to see it there as a guide.
